One of the greatest things about living in a city like ours with amazing weather and beaches is that there are many fun, yet cheap things to do in San Diego. One of the most enjoyable activities in all of the county is snorkeling in La Jolla.
Everyday California offers inexpensive snorkel and wetsuit rental so even if you don’t have your own gear you can still explore the coastline of La Jolla without breaking the bank. Choose to spend part of your day snorkeling off of La Jolla Shores near the Marine Room restaurant where you can swim with leopard sharks. Don’t worry, they are perfectly harmless and couldn’t bite you with the tiny mouths on the bottom of their heads even if they wanted to. Despite their gentle nature, it’s still a thrill to be surrounded by these fish that can be up to five or six feet long. After swim with the sharks, head over to la Jolla Cove where you can swim near seals and sea lions, and look down into the kelp forest where you will see bright orange garibaldi and other fish darting between the kelp stalks. Of all the things to do in San Diego, snorkeling in La Jolla is one that should be at the top of anyone’s list.
Snorkels, masks, and fins can be rented separately for $10 per day, or you can choose to rent the entire snorkel package for $20 per day. If you need a wetsuit, and you might since the Pacific can be chilly, you can get a snorkel package with wetsuit for $30 per day. Sizes are available for every age, height, and body type. Everyday California is just a few blocks away from La Jolla Shores on Avenida de la Playa so you can walk straight from the shop to the Shores and get right in the water with leopard sharks. Breaks between swimming at either spot can be enjoyed sipping on water or munching on a light snack while enjoying the gorgeous surroundings of both La Jolla Shores and La Jolla Cove.
Funbassadors can help Funseekers find the best snorkeling spots and possibly even supply them with the gear they need and some water or snacks between swims. Funseekers can purchase a FunGig that allows the to enjoy one of the most uniquely San Diego things to do.
